New Orleans was crazy awesome. (poetic i know). We did the tourist thing and walked up and down the French Quarter. I got some beautifully hand-rolled cigars, smoke those in that endless I-10 drive to Austin. We later got a tour of Anderson Cooper/Brad Pitt's 9th ward and saw the devastation/renovation. This area destroyed by the tanker playing bumper boats with the levy. The way the story goes is that, this area was already QUITE blighted to start with. The media needed a symbol of disaster and this one was an easy mark. Not to down play this tragedy, this whole area went from densely housed to over-grown blocks of grasslands. Occasionally, we would drive by a dwell home built by these world famous architects right next door to an empty driveway on a blank foundation with the ghost of a home lingering above it. Getting intense, sorry.
I caught some Banksy on the way back. EPIC.
Gordon and Stacy took us out for dinner and we caught some street bands doing a funky rendition of the classic 80's jam "Part-time Lover". It sounds weak, but the whole block was going off.
Austin here we come.
